Sasawashi Flat is made from kumazasa, a variety of bamboo that grows in high elevations of 1,000 meters above sea level. As kumazasa has natural antibacterial and deodorizing properties, as well as protection against UV rays, Sasawashi Flat is particularly well-suited for making summer accessories like a crochet hat or clutch. The water-repellent dyeing process provides waterproofing* and makes it stain-resistant.

*The waterproof effect will gradually fade over time.

Sasawashi Flat works up into smaller stitches, producing a softer, more light-weight fabric than with the original Sasawashi. Available in subtle shades, Sasawashi Flat has a natural luster that is unique to Japanese paper.
